Kobe Paras struggled once again as the Niigata Albirex BB suffered their seventh consecutive loss following a 75-86 defeat by the Ryukyu Golden Kings in the Japan B. League at the City Hall Plaza Aore Nagaoka on Saturday (6 November).
It was a woeful day in the office for Paras, who finished with seven points on 3-of-13 shooting and three rebounds, as the Albirex slid to a 2-8 record.
In contrast, Dwayne Evans was nothing short of prolific for the Golden Kings, delivering 26 points, nine rebounds and two assists as his side improved to an 8-2 record.
Evans stood at the forefront of the decisive run in the third quarter, when the Golden Kings cranked their offensive machine and unloaded a 19-2 surge that widened a slim 46-43 lead to a 65-45 blowout.
Rosco Allen tried to will Niigata back in the fourth frame as he helped cut the deficit down to single digits at 73-81, but Evans, Keita Imamura and Allen Durham restored order and thwarted the comeback attempt.
Imamura made his presence felt from deep with four triples to wind up with 23 points, while Durham provided a 15-point, 10-rebound performance.
On the other hand, Allen paced Niigata with 21 points, nine rebounds, five assists and two steals in a lost cause, while Tshilidzi Nephawe managed 14 points and five boards in the deflating defeat.
Paras and the Albirex will try to quench the drought with a rematch against Ryukyu on Sunday.
