Drivers United for Mass Progress and Equal Rights - Philippines Taxi Drivers Association (DUMPER) Representative Claudine Diana Bautista-Lim filed a cyberlibel case with P1-billion worth of damages against actor Enchong Dee on Thursday (November 11).

The partylist representative accused Dee of making "malicious" and "defamatory" statements against her after photos of her wedding were leaked online.

Last August, Bautista-Lim drew flak for her reportedly expensive wedding to businessman Jose French Lim in a luxury resort in Balesin, Quezon in February leaked online.

“The money for commuters and drivers went to her wedding. Let’s not prolong this conversation and don’t say otherwise,” Dee tweeted about the issue.

A day later, he issued a public apology: “With deep regret, I would like to apologize to Congresswoman Claudine Bautista, her husband, their families, and the DUMPER Partylist… I reacted based on impulse without thinking of the consequences nor the harm it may cause.”

By "categorically declaring that 'the money for commuters and drivers went into her wedding' the Kapamilya star went as far as to suggest that I used public coffers for my wedding," Bautista-Lim added.

“The posts were meant nothing more than their malicious intentions of maligning my person, depicting me as a corrupt public official,” she added.

Bautista-Lim claims that despite the actor's gesture, Dee's public apology was insincere.

“He was not sorry to me and for the damage that he has done. He just wants to deflect, albeit unsuccessfully, this criminal charge against him…” she said.

“This does not do any good for him. It only bolstered and magnified his admission of guilt beyond reasonable doubt for his unprovoked and baseless libelous remarks,” Bautista-Lim added.

A copy of Bautista's internet libel case which was filed in Davao Occidental on August 23 against Dee and three other persons was obtained by the online entertainment website PEP.ph.

“They had the audacity to post something against me based only on hearsay. None of them were present at my wedding day nor a privy to the expenses for my wedding. Yet, they attacked me as if they have personal knowledge of the expense for my wedding,” as Bautista said in the lawsuit as quoted by PEP.ph.

According to PEP.ph, Bautista is asking that the court order Dee to pay P500,000,000 in moral damages and another P500,000,000 in exemplary damages, totaling P1 billion damages.

On Friday, Bautista-Lim issued a statement on the case wherein she urged the public to focus on more important matters.
