Phoenix dominates TerraFirma to keeps Dyip winless

The Phoenix Super LPG Fuel Masters flipped the switch in the second half to torch the TerraFirma Dyip, 116-94, in the PBA Philippine Cup on Tuesday, November 3, at the AUF Sports Arena and Cultural Center in Pampanga.

After a rough start, Phoenix grabbed a 59-55 lead at halftime before uncorking a 27-16 blast in the third that gave them a 15-point lead, 86-71, heading to the fourth quarter. It was all Fuel Masters from that point on as they improved to 5-3 (win-loss) while the Dyip suffered their sixth straight loss.

Matthew Wright spearheaded Phoenix’s attack as he had 33 points to go with four rebounds, six assists and five steals. RJ Jazul came off the bench and scored 16 markers while Cebuano Brian Heruela and Jason Perkins each had 14 markers.

Calvin “The Beast” Abueva tallied a triple-double of 12 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Justin Chua rounded out Phoenix’s bevy of double-figure scorers with 10 points.

CJ Perez was the lone bright spot for TerraFirma as he piled up 32 points, nine rebounds and five assists. (JNP)
