Phoenix’s do-it-all wingman Matthew Wright has established himself as one of the league’s premier players as he emerged as the statistical leader at the conclusion of the elimination round of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Philippine Cup.
Phoenix’s scoring machine registered 39.5 statistical points (SPs) at the end of the elimination round on the strength of his stellar averages of 22.8 points, 5.4 rebounds and six assists. The Filipino-Canadian’s superb play has helped the Fuel Masters reach the semifinal round where they will take on the TNT Tropang Giga starting on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Cebuano ace Roger Ray Pogoy of TNT finished in sixth place with 34.3 SPs with his averages of 18.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 2.4 assists.
Following Wright in second place is TerraFirma’s sophomore guard CJ Perez with 35.7 SPs after he led the league in scoring with 24.4 points per game. He also normed 6.8 boards and 4.3 assists although the Dyip failed to make any noise in the “bubble” with their miserable 1-10 (win-loss) record.
Wright’s comrade, Jason Perkins, is in third place with 35.5 SPs while TNT’s Ray Parks and NorthPort’s Christian Standhardinger rounded out the top five with 35.2 and 34.6 SPs, respectively. (JNP)
