The Phoenix Super LPG will hunting for its second win in a row when they tangle with the NorthPort Batang Pier in the PBA Philippine Cup on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at the Angeles University Foundation Sports and Cultural Complex in Pampanga.
Tip-off is at 4 p.m. with the Fuel Masters looking to carry the momentum of their resounding 116-98 win over the Meralco Bolts last Monday. However, Phoenix head coach Topex Robinson was keen to remind his wards that it was just one game and they have plenty more to come.
"Winning game one doesn't make us bubble champions. It just means if we're going to do it right, the way we prepared for it, we'll give ourselves a chance to win," said Robinson during the media availability session.
The play of Matthew Wright though, was a huge reason for Phoenix’s successful debut in the Philippine Cup. The deadly gunner exploded for 36 points against the Bolts, hitting four three-pointers.
Meanwhile, NorthPort is aiming to bounce back from their 96-89 loss to the Blackwater Elite last Monday. While Batang Pier sentinels Christian Standhardinger and Sean Anthony had their usual numbers, with the former piling up 23 points, 10 rebounds and six assists and the latter registering 22 points, 13 boards and six dimes, the rest of their teammates came out flat.
The only other player to reach double-figures in scoring was Garvo Lañete who had 14. Nobody else scored more than seven. (JNP)
