TOKYO (Reuters) -Panasonic unveiled on Monday a more advanced prototype battery that has five times the storage capacity of current ones, with the company's battery chief saying it will help deepen business ties with U.S. electric car maker Tesla Inc. During a media roundtable where Kazuo Tadanobu unveiled the new battery for the first time, he also said Panasonic had no plans to make cheaper Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) electric vehicle batteries. Panasonic this year established a test line in Japan to make the 4680 format (46 millimetres wide and 80 millimetres tall) battery cell that Tesla says will store more energy, halve battery costs and drive a 100-fold increase in battery production by 2030.

In a joint statement, Yandex and Russian Post said 36 rectangular, suitcase-sized robots would initially deliver from 27 post offices in several districts of the Russian capital as part of a pilot project, with parcel recipients able to select robot delivery using an app.
Japan's governing party split two parliamentary seats in weekend byelections seen as a major test of its support ahead of a national vote next Sunday. Both seats are in the upper house of Japan’s Diet, or parliament, which is not subject to the Oct. 31 elections for the more powerful lower chamber, but they were seen as a bellwether for Prime Minister Fumio Kishida's government. It lost to an opposition-backed candidate in a tightly contested vote for a vacant seat in Shizuoka prefecture, while the LDP candidate won the other seat in Sunday's byelections in the party’s traditional stronghold of Yamaguchi prefecture, home to former leader Shinzo Abe.

A group of anti-vaccine protesters attempted to push their way into Brooklyn’s Barclays Center on Sunday, October 24, in support of Nets point guard Kyrie Irving, who has been forced to sit out the NBA season after refusing a COVID-19 vaccination. This footage by Tom Frezza, taken in the plaza outside Barclays Center, shows protesters trying to enter the arena doors. The protesters can be heard saying “let Kyrie play.”Irving, the Nets starting point guard, is one of the highest profile American athletes to turn down a vaccine, and is currently the only NBA player unable to suit up for games, due to his opposition and local laws. New York City’s vaccinate mandate requires at least one vaccination shot for entry to public gyms, which Barclays Center is considered. The Nets were playing the Charlotte Hornets inside Barclays Center on Sunday afternoon.Media citing the spokesperson for Barclays Center reported the stadium “briefly closed its doors in order to clear protesters from the main doors on the plaza and ensure guests could safely enter the arena.” Credit: Tom Frezza via Storyful
