2014 Honda CR-V AWD LX
TOTAL SAVINGS $3,520
Although being a compact SUV, there is plenty of room for the family, to haul groceries, or to take an adventurous road trip to any one of Canada’s beautiful destinations. Yet the compact form factor makes getting around traffic in major cities like Toronto, Montreal, Calgary or Vancouver manageable. The cargo area is spacious even when having the rear seats in the upright position. With just a pull of a lever, the back seats easily fold down to give you even more cargo space, up to 2,007 litres in fact.
The ergonomics of the Honda CR-V have also been well thought through. The vehicle is down low and the doors open wide which makes getting in and out easy both for you and any pets. The flat floor in the back also makes it comfortable to seat three adults. The driver and front passenger also have plenty of space. The controls are straightforward and easy to understand. The interior does have a hard plastic feel which may make it feel slightly less luxurious than some of the competition.
Visibility for the driver in the front and side are very good. However, the back pillars of the vehicle do create a blind spot. Parking this SUV in tight spaces should be relatively easier, as all new CR-Vs come standard with a back-up camera. The one common complaint among drivers is that road noise is quite audible.
The CR-V is very maneuverable, easy to navigate on the road, and easy to park. Moreover, its breaking distance is commendable for its size. The engine, transmission, and gear shifting is smooth. This year’s model has also gotten more efficient when it comes to fuel. At 9.2/6.6 L/100 km (city/highway, AWD models), the 2014 Honda CR-V is among the best in in its class for fuel economy.
