25 emerging Philippine tourism hot spots named

After the success of Boracay, the Puerto Princesa Underground River and and Vigan, among others, 25 Philippine destinations have been shortlisted as emerging tourism magnets. The “Philippine Gems” project, which is part of consultancy firm Isla Lipana & Co.’s corporate social responsibility, identified locations off the beaten track that exhibit tourism potential.

“Increasing the awareness and appreciation for these sites will foster both local and international interest and attention that may eventually increase economic activity,” Isla Lipana said. Out of the 25 locations, which have yet to be mainstreamed in tourism campaigns, Pinoys will be asked to choose 10 top destinations through a poll in the firm’s website.
