Sony PlayStation

Credit the first-generation PlayStation for making Sony, then an upstart in the mid-'90s, as big and relevant as ever in today's console scene. After all, the 32-bit hardware was only the world's best-selling system from 1998 until 2006, when it eventuallyand rightfullybowed down to its successor, the PlayStation 2. Among the PlayStation's most popular titles, most of which you have probably played or are at least familiar with: Gran Turismo, Final Fantasy VII, Tomb Raider, Metal Gear Solid, and Resident Evil. Oh, the nostalgia!
