MANILA, Philippines – An association of Mindanao-based graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) has requested to remove Senator Antonio Trillanes IV from the roster of alumni of the prestigious institution.

The Eagle Fraternal Chapter of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc. (PMAAAI) released on Friday (September 14) through a publication of nationwide circulation a manifestation “ostracizing Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and recommending for his immediate ouster from the PMAAAI roll of members for acts unbecoming of a PEEMAYER, through actions and behavior contrary to the Academy’s motto of COURAGE, INTEGRITY, and LOYALTY thereby seriously damaging the honor and prestige of this revered institution.”

Among the grounds, the group has cited include “inciting to sedition, proposing to commit coup d’etat and graft; committing graft and corruption; and his disrespect and arrogant behavior towards senior officers and the President.”

Malacañang, for its part, said it remains confident that the entire military organization remains loyal to the President contrary to Trillanes’ claim.

President Spokesperson Harry Roque said the group’s reaction to what is happening to the Senator only “reflects the overall sentiment of the military.” – Rosalie Coz / Marje Pelayo
