Navigators dominate BSAA awards

PLAYERS from the Philippine Maritime Institute Navigators nearly swept all of the major individual awards during the awarding ceremonies of the Bohol Schools Athletic Association Season 9 at the University of Bohol in Tagbilaran City on Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2019.

PMI’s big man Marjoe Enguito was named as the season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP) award-winner while his teammate Mark Berdera was adjudged as the Finals MVP. Another PMI standout, Regiren Campaner, was named Rookie of the Year while Jose Alampayan was deemed as the Most Improved Player.

Campaner, Berdera, Enguito and their PMI teammate, Arvin Bitad, all made it to the Mythical Five of the Seniors division along with Mark Bual of BIT International College. The Coach of the Year was Trinidad Municipal College’s Dennis Tabada.

In the Juniors division, most of the major awards were hauled in by the players from the champion team, GreAtMinds Leadership Academy. The MVP was John Ponla while the Finals MVP was Kobe Naron. John Loquellano was deemed as the Rookie of the Year while Ivan Valles of Christ the King Academy was the Most Improved Player.

Making it to the Mythical Five were GLA’s Ponla, Naron and James Dumapias, and the University of Bohol’s Horace Morata and Mark Guigue. Carlo Crescencio of UB was named as the Coach of the Year. (JNP)
