Six co-passengers of the couple who tested positive of the novel coronavirus, have shown flu-like symptoms, according to the report of the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation Group (PNP-CIDG).
Based on the PNP-CIDG’s contact tracing, CIDG Deputy Director for Administration PCol. Rhoderick Armamento said three co-passengers from Cebu Pacific flight 5J241 (Cebu-Dumaguete) on January 21 showed symptoms.
Meanwhile, the other three co-passengers who showed symptoms were from Philippine Airlines flight 2452 (Dumaguete-Manila) on January 25.
Three of the six co-passengers are currently under quarantine in various hospitals.
Armamento said they advised passengers they called under contact tracing to undergo self-quarantine and observe their health.
“Hanggang doon lang kami actually, hanggang contact tracing lang. Kung may sinasabi sila na ‘sir inuubo po ako, sinisipon’, immediately tinatawagan namin agad ang DOH (All we can do is contract tracing. If they say, ‘sir, I have a cough, cold’, we would immediately call the DOH),” he said.
He also called on airline companies to make sure all the information they will provide are verified.—AAC (with reports from Lea Ylagan)
