PNP Highway Patrol Group returns to EDSA

MANILA, Philippines – A total of 150 personnel of the Philippine National Police (PNP) Highway Patrol Group (HPG) are again deployed along the stretch of Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue (EDSA).

Of the said number, 30 officers were among the teams that provided road security in the recently concluded 30th South East Asian Games (SEA Games).

The HPG will assist the local government units (LGUs) in directing the motorists from EDSA towards the inner roads to decongest traffic.

“Ang mga chokepoints po at traffic points na identified natin ay naglalagay tayo ng pulis doon additional (team),” explained HPG-NCR P/LtCol. Wilson Doromal.

(We deploy additional police personnel at choke points and traffic points.)

“Together with NCRPO, nagko -coordinate kami sa mga district director, (we coordinate with the district director),“ he added.

The HPG also encourages private motorists to take Mabuhay lanes as alternative routes to ease the traffic flow on EDSA. – MNP (with details from Lea Ylagan)
