MANILA, Philippines — “Those who are responsible will be held liable if there are lapses and then we will try to fill in the gaps.”
This was the statement of Police Director Leo Angelo Leuterio of the Philippine National Police-Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) in relation to the recent one-time-big-time operations of the PNP in Bulacan.
The official vowed not to spare anyone if irregularities are proven in connection to the operation.
IAS will begin its investigation on the procedures executed by the Bulacan police that resulted in the death of 32 drug personalities.
The said one-time-big-time operation in Bulacan is considered as having the most number of deaths in one day.
Based on data, the August 15 operation was able to neutralize 26 individuals during buy bust operation; five during service of search warrant and one in the anti-criminality checkpoint.
“Our subjects during our one time big time operation are all notorious drug pushers and we all know that they are difficult to deal with and we all know the effects of drugs,” Bulacan Police Office director PSSupt. Romeo Caramat Jr. said.
He added that the suspects resisted and open fired prompting his men to protect themselves.
“They are questioning why there are many deaths, but all I can say is we don’t have to control on the situation, as much as possible we wanted to remove those elements that would lead us to a bloody encounter,” Camarat added.
