The Philippine National Police (PNP) seized around 371 kilos or P2.7 billion worth of suspected drugs in Makati City on Tuesday night (November 26).

Authorities also arrested Chinese national Liu Chao.

Stacks of dog food packs printed with Chinese characters were found by the PNP Drug Enforcement Unit during their raid in an apartment unit in Barangay San Antonio, Makati.

PNP officer-in-charge Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa said they have been conducting surveillance on the suspect for two weeks.

“With a series of test buys conducted, they are convinced na may laman (the packs contain drugs). So they offered a bigger amount and kumagat naman siya (he took the bait)” he said.

Gamboa said this is one of the largest shabu hauls this year. He also encouraged the public to report suspicious individuals.

Meanwhile, authorities are currently investigating the suspect’s cohorts and who are his customers.—AAC (with reports from Bernard Dadis)
