Police are hunting a teenager who allegedly drove the wrong way through the Blackwall Tunnel.

Johal Rathour, 18, is wanted for dangerous driving, vehicle theft and failing to stop following the incident in south east London, police said.

The teen is believed to have driven a stolen Range Rover the wrong way through London's famous tunnel in the early hours of Friday, 6 August, this year.

Nobody is believed to have been injured during the incident, which happened at 4.20am.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "We are keen to know the whereabouts of 18-year-old Johal Rathour.

"He is wanted in connection with vehicle theft, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police after he drove the wrong way through the Blackwall Tunnel.

"Rathour is described as an Asian man, 5ft 8ins tall, with black curly hair and a beard.

"He has a distinctive horizontal scar between his eyebrows and has a hand tattoo that reads ‘Mum’."

The spokesman said Rathour has links to Newham, Romford, Grays and Erith in Kent.

Police urged anyone with any information on his whereabouts to call police on 101 or to contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Reports suggested that the appeal is linked to a previous appeal by police, who released pictures of a crash on 6 August, saying they had "terminated" a chase to minimise risk

Police first released pictures of the crash on August 6 revealing they had "terminated" the chase to minimise risk, allowing the driver to escape on foot.
