Rematado was positively identified by Alfanta after police presented the suspect's picture to him while he was still recuperating at the Cebu South Medical Center in Talisay City.

Alfanta told police that it was Rematado who was sitting beside him when the former and his still unidentified companion robbed him. Rematado was armed with a pistol when he and his companion robbed Alfanta.

Alfanta also confirmed to police that Rematado's companion was the one who slit his tongue.

Both suspects were able to rob Alfanta of his P1,000 worth of earnings, not P4,200 as initially reported.

Pino said Rematado has an existing criminal record and was involved in a series of robberies in southern Cebu. Rematado also has a pending arrest warrant for robbery.

Pino said they are still conducting a manhunt against Rematado. (GPL / JKV)
