THE chief of police in the southwestern town of Dumanjug, Cebu said they have identified persons of interest behind the theft that victimized three persons on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2022.

Dumanjug police chief Capt. Jan Ace Elcid Pascua Layug said they will do whatever it takes to find the persons responsible. A person of interest is a term used by the police to describe a person who may have knowledge about the incident.

The three victims were having a vacation at the house of their churchmate in Sitio Lomboy, Barangay Lawaan when the incident happened. The house has no security cameras.

Meanwhile, Mayor Efren “Gungun” Gica warned that he will not hesitate to go after criminals in the town. Gica earlier offered a P100,000 reward for the capture of the burglars.

Layug said the theft took place past 1 a.m. Sunday. It was around 3 a.m. when one of the victims discovered that their belongings—cellphones, cash and ATM cards—were gone.

The victims reported the incident to the police, telling them that they had lost around P100,000 to the burglars.
