THE police in Talisay City, Cebu have confiscated P33,000 worth of gasoline that resellers sold at a higher price, taking advantage of fuel demand after Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai) hit the province on December 16, 2021.

Police also arrested five persons for selling overpriced gasoline.

In Cebu, motorists who wish to avoid the long line at gasoline stations buy gasoline placed in a one-liter soft drink bottle.

Government pronouncements assuring that Cebu has enough supply of fuel did not deter motorists from flocking to gasoline stations.

As to the arrests made in Talisay City, the city's police chief Lieutenant Colonel Randy Caballes said they caught the unscrupulous individuals by conducting three operations in different barangays in the past days.

He said they received complaints that these resellers sell a liter of gasoline at P150, which is more than half of the original price that ranges from P60 to P68. (BBT / KAL)
