A FISHERMAN who allegedly raped the underaged niece of his wife was arrested by the police in Barangay Gairan, Bogo City in northern Cebu past 12 a.m. Saturday, January 22, 2022.

The suspect is facing two counts of rape before Bogo City Regional Trial Court (RTC) 7 Branch 81. (SunStar Cebu is withholding the name of the suspect to protect the identity of his victim who is related to him by affinity.)

The Bogo City Police Station implemented the warrant of arrest against the 48-year-old suspect in his residence in Gairan.

Police Executive MSgt. Winston Isnani, investigator, said the suspect did not resist arrest when they served the warrant of arrest issued on Dec. 1, 2021 by RTC 7 Branch 81 Judge Glenn Jumao-as.

The suspect had been listed as the second-most wanted person before his arrest.

Investigation showed the suspect raped the niece of his wife twice in August 2021 inside the suspect's house in Gairan.

The suspect's wife was not at home at the time of both incidents as she was selling barbeque on both occasions.

The victim reported the incident to her relative before they approached the police for the filing of complaints. (GPL / KAL)
