Poultry farmer gunned down in front of drinking buddies

A POULTRY farmer was gunned down in front of his drinking buddies at his house in Barangay Tampaan, Aloguinsan town, midwest Cebu on Friday afternoon, July 22, 2022.

Police identified the victim as Gregorio Maambong Jr. Police have yet to identify Maambong’s killer.

Cpl. Jose Sayson of the Aloguinsan Police Station told SunStar Cebu that at the time of the incident, Maambong was drinking with his friends as the barangay was celebrating its annual fiesta.

But as Maambong and his friends drank, the unidentified shooter arrived at the victim’s house on board a motorcycle driven by a companion.

The suspect then approached the victim then shot the latter multiple times using a .45 caliber pistol.

After shooting Maambong, the suspect casually returned to his motorcycle and then fled with his companion.

Maambong succumbed to gunshot wounds he sustained in the head and body.

Witnesses told police that the suspect wore a red t-shirt and concealed his face with another shirt.

According to his wife, Maambong may have no known enemies in their place, but he was known to go amok whenever he was drunk.

The police recovered four spent shells from a .45 pistol at the crime scene.
