MANILA, Philippines — In an effort to clear his name, John Paul Solano went to the office of Senator Lacson to surrender.

Solano insisted that he has no involvement in the death of UST law student Horacio Castillo III.

The suspect said that his participation in the incident was when he gave medical assistance to the victim.

Solano noted that as a medical health provider, his colleagues at the Aegis Juris fraternity called him when they were in chaos and in need of medical assistance.

He said Castillo was already half dead when he arrived at the scene.

He also tried to perform a CPR on the victim, but when he can no longer resuscitate the UST law student, Solano said he decided to bring him to the hospital.

However, in the initial statement he gave to the police, Solano said he just found the body of Castillo in a street and brought it to the Chinese General Hospital.

He also apologized to the family of Castillo for giving a false statement about the death of their son, and that he would release a statement in connection with the matter.

After seeing Senator Lacson, Solano was brought to the headquarters of the Manila Police District (MPD) at around four in the afternoon, Friday.

Upon his arrival at the MPD headquarters, he was brought to the homicide section where he had undergone medical check-up and booking procedure. — Victor Cosare | UNTV News & Rescue
