PRINCE Caperal put up royal numbers as he scored 24 points to lead the Barangay Ginebra Kings to a 103-99 win over the Blackwater Elite in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup on Thursday night, October 15, 2020, at the AUF Sports Arena & Cultural Center in Pampanga.
With Cebuano Greg Slaughter no longer with the team, Caperal has stepped into the center role quite nicely, as he showcased his deft outside touch, sinking five three-pointers to lift Ginebra to their second win in as many games. Caperal added six rebounds and three assists.
Ginebra also got solid contributions from Stanley Pringle who had 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists. He also made two free-throws with 23 seconds remaining to give the Kings a 100-94 advantage.
Scottie Thompson also filled the stat-sheet with 14 points, seven boards and seven dimes. Jeff Chan and Japeth Aguilar came off the bench and scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.
Ginebra is now tied with TNT and Phoenix Super LPG for the early lead in the standings as all three squads hold 2-0 win-loss records.
Blackwater was led by Don Trollano, who had 23 points and 10 rebounds. However, his efforts were not enough to keep the Elite from falling to 1-1 for the season. (JNP)
