Princess Eugenie's son, August, already sounds like a right character

Princess Eugenie's mother, Sarah Ferguson, has given an insight into her first grandson August's personality... and it certainly sounds as though he's already somewhat of a cheeky chappy! Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, first welcomed little August (who is twelfth in line to the throne) into the world back in February and according to his grandma, the young royal has bags of personality.

Speaking with HELLO!, Sarah - who is currently promoting her first novel, Her Heart For A Compass - described the 5-month-old as 'phenomenal' and 'strong'.

"Well, baby August is phenomenal," she said. "He's a very strong little chap, August thinks I'm hysterical. And it's so funny when I look at him because I make him laugh, and he goes all shy and flirts with me. Just shows you: boys. Boys!"

The doting grandparent also described August as being "so cool" and said she's incredibly proud of her youngest daughter, Eugenie, and how she's taken to motherhood. Sarah also had many a kind word to say about Eugenie's husband, Jack.

"I'm very proud of Eugenie – and Jack [Brooksbank] because they're very good parents and, as any new parents out there know, it's very challenging, isn't it?" she remarked. "And they worry so much about the night duty and getting it right, and are they good enough? And are they getting it right? And Eugenie is really a great mother so I'm very proud of her."

Sarah, who was previously married to Prince Andrew, added that she's been on hand to offer Eugenie pep talks as and when needed, too. "Ultimately, I say, 'You've done so well, just keep your confidence.' Mothering is intuitive, so you don't need to be told, you'll know."

The author is also looking forward to becoming a grandmother for the second time, as Eugenie's older sister, Princess Beatrice, is currently pregnant with her first child, due this autumn.

In a statement from Buckingham Palace, it was announced: "Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are very pleased to announce that they are expecting a baby in autumn of this year. The Queen has been informed and both families are delighted with the news."

The couple's little one is due to become the Queen's twelfth great-grandchild (with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's baby girl, Lili, having slotted in as the eleventh).

"The fact that now Beatrice will be having a baby [too] is really the dream," Sarah added. "I'm so lucky."
