SOME retired police officers who were ordered to vacate PC Hills—a government-owned lot in PC Hills in Barangay Busay, Cebu City—were given a leeway by Brig. Gen. Albert Ignatius Ferro, director of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 7.
The PRO 7 will give them ample time to find new houses as transferring from one place to another is difficult during the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic.
The movement in Cebu City is difficult as the city has been placed on enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) since June 16; one of the prohibited activities during ECQ is public transport.
Ferro said PC Hills is the residence for active police officers who are far from home just like him.
The police official said waiting for the pandemic to end before letting the retired police officers to vacate was a humanitarian act.
Copies of the eviction order were already sent to the unspecificed numbers of retired police officers.
Ferro said the PRO 7 will help the retired officers new homes.
The PRO 7 leadership also received reports about private individuals renting rooms in PC Hills. They will also be evicted, said Ferro. (BBT)
