PRO 7: Police personnel in place to secure cemeteries, columbaria

POLICE Regional Office Central Visayas Director Brigadier General Roderick Augustus Alba inspected several large cemeteries in Cebu City to ensure security measures are in place.

Alba said police personnel had already been deployed to secure cemeteries and columbaria along with force multipliers.

Despite eased Covid-related restrictions, the police official urged members of the public to wear face masks while inside cemeteries and columbaria.

He said he received complaints that some people were not allowed to enter the Calamba Cemetery because they weren’t wearing face masks.

He reminded cemetery management that the wearing of face masks outdoors is optional. However, he encouraged those who are sick to put one on.

Aside from police, members of the Cebu City Environmental Sanitation Enforcement have been deployed to apprehend persons caught spitting and smoking in public and indiscriminately throwing garbage.

Violators can face a fine of P1,000 for spitting and for throwing garbage and a fine of P2,000 for smoking. (AYB)
