Property developer ventures into first vertical project

PROPERTY developer Sterlingland Residences and Development Inc. is building a 25-story residential condominium that is Airbnb ready.

The company broke ground Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, its first vertical project—The Skyline—located on St. Lawrence St., Barangay Apas in Cebu City.

The high-rise project has a total of 496 studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.

SterlingLand chairman Eduardo Padilla said The Skyline is the company’s seventh project to date in their seven years in the real estate business.

The Skyline is the first of the three projects the company will introduce to the market this year.

Sterlingland president and chief executive officer Marilou Padilla described The Skyline as a fusion of home and hotel living concept as its units are ready to hosts guests for short-and-long-term leases such as those who book through Airbnb.

“It will embody a hotel inspired living,” said Marilou, adding that it will have a grand lobby with its own café and 24-hour CCTV and security.

“We are building a project that aims to cater the needs and demands of the market,” she added.

Airbnb is a disruptor in the hospitality business in terms of the type of accommodation and thrifty rates it offers to tourists.

On the ninth floor of The Skyline is the amenity area that will feature an infinity pool and sun deck. It will also have a fitness gym.

“Upon entering The Skyline, you will be able to feel the spirit of service emanating towards you in spades; from your first step in the building to turning the key, from the guards to the staff. This sort of treatment comes hand-in-hand with the level of refinement most commonly seen at the top hospitality institutions in this country,” said Marilou.

Sterlingland hopes to get the License to Sell permit by the middle of this year so it could begin selling the project. It targets to finish the tower in 2024 or early 2025.

In 2018, the company launched Minglanilla Highlands Cebu an integrated township development perched on a 25-hectare property in Tubod, Minglanilla.

Its other projects include Sta. Isabel Estate in Carcar City and Sta. Monica Estate in Barangay Tisa in Cebu City. (KOC)
