TEACHING and non-teaching personnel in all public elementary schools and high schools in Mandaue City received P10,000 each in cash assistance from the City Government on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2020.

This year’s recipients numbered 2,383.

John Eddu Ibañez, executive secretary of Mayor Jonas Cortes, said the financial aid is given every December as a reward for their service and as a Christmas gift from the City.

Ibañez said the City lauds the teachers and school staff for continuing to work and to educate the youth despite the ongoing coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic and the changes in the educational system to prevent infection and spread of the disease.

Ibañez said the cash assistance is included in the City’s annual budget appropriations every year.

On the day of the distribution, each school assigned one classroom where the money was distributed to ensure minimum health standards could be observed.

In some schools, the financial aid was distributed in the gym.

After receiving their cash, the recipients were told to go home immediately and to avoid loitering in the school premises. (KFD)
