THE Commission on Elections (Comelec) in Cebu City has advised those who want to register as a voter to book an appointment online before going to the Comelec office.
According to Cebu City North District Election Officer Marchel Sarno, voter registration will resume on Sept. 1, 2020.
Sarno said the link will be available on their Facebook (FB) page next week.
“It’s similar to when they’re applying for a passport or a National Bureau of Investigation clearance,” Sarno said in Cebuano.
The application form, which is available at the Comelec website, will have to be printed on a long bond paper, back to back. The applicant must bring three copies.
For those who want to secure a voter’s certification, Sarno said the applicant can log on to fb.com/book/100662991695869 to get the schedule for the printout.
The fee for the voter’s certification is P75. The Comelec office urged the public to bring the exact amount if they’re picking it up.
“The issuance of the voter’s certification started on Monday, Aug. 10, 2020. However, we’re urging the public, especially those with Facebook accounts, to transact online for the safety of everybody, including Comelec employees,” the agency posted in Cebuano on its FB page.
The Comelec has been implementing a “no face mask and face shield, no transaction” policy in its offices to ensure the safety of staff and visitors.
It also urged the public to bring their own pen for filling out forms.
Registration is open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Tuesday to Saturday, including holidays.
The Comelec also offers an express lane for persons with disability, senior citizens and pregnant women. (JJL)
