Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte says the issue on the allegedly ‘missing’ COVID-19 patient is a case of misunderstanding, noting that the patient could be residing in a different barangay.
Following the placing of extreme enhanced community quarantine in two barangays in the city and the identification of ‘hot zones,’ QC Mayor Belmonte said that the resident who tested positive for COVID-19 is on the loose.
According to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD), the said COVID-19 positive resident is a male, aged more or less 50.
Barangay officials have failed to find the person at the address given to authorities.
The family who lives at the given address denied knowledge about the COVID-19 case.
Mayor Belmonte believes this is a case of misunderstanding.
According to her, they got an incomplete initial address of the patient.
“Mali po ang ibinigay na address or maaari rin pong hindi inaamin ng pamilya na taga-roon yung tao, which I don’t understand kung ano ang motive noon.” (The address given is incorrect. It’s also possible the family [at that residence] is not admitting the person actually lives there, which I don’t understand what’s the motive in that.), explains the QC chief executive.
The QC Health Department have then found out that the given address is located in a different barangay after gathering information from the DOH and The Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM). — By Harlene Delgado
