This year the Queen marks 70 years on the throne, making her the first ever monarch to reach the Platinum Jubilee milestone.

With a four-day weekend from 2-6 June lined up, it's impossible to miss the celebrations. We've seen it all; from knitted post boxes to costumes for your patriotic pets to wear with pride.

While there's a huge variety of memorabilia to purchase right now, from commemorative plates to mugs and tea towels, if you're after a keepsake that will last generations (and may also rise in value), you may want to invest in one of The Royal Mint's commemorative coins.

The collectables range in price, from a more affordable £7 for a special 50p coin, to uncirculated – and therefore rarer – coins directly from The Royal Mint. The coins feature the number 70 as well as the dates 1952-2022.

While it's too late to pick up the £200 Platinum Jubilee celebration two-coin set (there were only 1,500 available), there's still time to grab an uncirculated 50p, an uncirculated £5 coin and two limited edition sets; a half sovereign set and a full sovereign set. The latter two feature year-dated gold bullion sovereigns and there's just 499 available of each set.

As for how much they could be worth in the future? The Coin Expert reveals that if you're in possession of a 1977 Jubilee crown coin it could already be worth up to £150.

The uncirculated coin has '70' and the dates 1952-2022 on one side and a portrait of the Queen on a horse on the other. This coin has a finer finish then the 50p coins currently in circulation, making it a great collectable.

This is the first time a royal event has been commemorated on a UK 50p coin, so that makes it that extra bit special.
