‘Queenie’ now tropical storm

FILIPINOS must brace for rain and winds as Tropical Depression Queenie intensified into a tropical storm on Monday, Oct. 31, 2022.

At 5 p.m., weather bureau Pagasa said the center of Queenie was 695 kilometers east southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur with maximum sustained winds of 65 kilometers per hour and gustiness of up to 80 km/h. It is moving west-southwestward at 25 km/h.

With light to moderate with at times heavy rains possible over Caraga, Eastern Visayas and Davao Oriental Tuesday evening (Nov. 1) through Wednesday, Pagasa said a tropical cyclone wind signal may be hoisted over the eastern part of Caraga and some parts of Eastern Visayas Tuesday evening at the earliest. Signal No. 1 is likely the highest wind signal to be hoisted.

On Thursday, light to moderate with at times heavy rains may hit Caraga, Davao Region, Northern Mindanao, Eastern and Central Visayas and Bicol Region.
