Who knew Miss Universe Philippines 2020 Rabiya Mateo is a "princess" since birth?
Mateo revealed the meaning behind her beautiful name in a recent Vlog on YouTube. In the video, the beauty queen from Iloilo shared that 'Rabiya' means "princess" or "queen" in her father's language. Being the first daughter in the family, it was the name given to her at birth.
"On my daddy's side, he had two brothers — I was the first girl, so they wanted to give me the name 'princess,'" she said in Filipino.
Mateo added, she was also almost named Jasmine as her mom was a huge fan of the Disney film, Aladdin, and particularly fond of Princess Jasmine.
What a cute story!
