ALBAY, Philippines – DWZR Zoom Radio announcer Joey Llana was ambushed at 4:45 a.m. on Friday (July 20).

According to Police Regional Office 5 Director PCSupt. Arnel Escobal, Llana was shot by unidentified assailants while on board his car on his way out of their house garage at P5 Barangay Peñafrancia, Daraga, Albay.

The 38-year-old victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds that led to his death.

Authorities are still investigating the incident.

Meanwhile, Malacañang condemned the killing of Llana calling it “another infringement on the rights to life and a free press.”

“The Presidential Task Force on Media Security (PTFoMS) will be relentless in according justice to this latest victim,” assured Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque. – Lea Ylagan / Marje Pelayo
