A RADIO BLOCKTIMER was hurt after he was shot by two men on a motorcycle while onboard a modern jeep at Urdaneta Street, Barangay San Roque in Cebu City on Thursday, December 16, 2021.

Rico Osmeña, a radio blocktimer, sustained a gunshot wound on his back while another woman, who was sitting beside him, sustained a strafe wound on her left eyebrow.

Police Major Edgar Labe, chief of the Waterfront Police Station, told reporters that Osmeña had taken a modern jeep from the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) when upon reaching Urdaneta Street, two unidentified men onboard a motorcycle suddenly fired at the side of the jeep before fleeing.

Upon seeing that Osmeña and the still unidentified woman had sustained gunshot wounds, the modern jeep’s driver immediately brought them to an uptown Cebu City hospital where they are currently recuperating from their injuries.

Police attempted to interrogate Osmeña on what happened but they were blocked by hospital personnel from entering.

The driver, however, was able to talk to the police on what happened.

Labe said they are currently gathering information from other witnesses to determine what initially happened during the incident.

Labe said that they are looking into Osmeña’s work as a radio blocktimer as a possible angle behind the attack. / BBT, AYB
