The Rain or Shine Elasto Painters seek to gain a share of the early lead in the standings when they battle the TerraFirma Dyip in the 2020 PBA Philippine Cup on Friday, October 16, 2020, at the AUF Sports & Cultural Complex in Pampanga.
Tip-off is at 4 p.m. with Rain or Shine looking to carry over the momentum from their huge 87-83 win over the reigning Philippine Cup champions San Miguel Beermen last Tuesday.
Rain or Shine head coach Caloy Garcia relayed that it felt good to get off to a positive start and credited the fearless play of Rey Nambatac who shot in a three-pointer with just seconds remaining to fend off the resilient Beermen.
Rain or Shine’s super sophomore Javee Mocon was also a huge thorn on the side of San Miguel in that game as compiled 25 points, six rebounds and two assists. Later, the San Beda product shared that the good chemistry between the team’s veterans and youngsters are producing great results.
"Siguro it's the composition of the team — the mix of young players and the veterans. We all played to win," shared Mocon during the media availability session.
Meanwhile, TerraFirma will be looking to bounce back against Rain or Shine especially after losing to TNT in their season debut, 112-101. CJ Perez, the reigning Rookie of the Year, did his part as he scored team-high 30 points against TNT last Tuesday. However, it was far from enough as the Dyip just could not get it going against the Tropang Giga.
TerraFirma is hopeful that top rookie draft pick Roosevelt Adams will get it going after struggling to find his mark in his pro debut. Adams finished with just seven points, missing all but three of his 11 attempts from the field. (JNP)
