RAIN or Shine hit all the big shots in crunchtime as the Elasto Painters put down the Barangay Ginebra Kings, 85-82, in the PBA Philippine Cup on Tuesday, October 27, at the Angeles University Foundation Sports Arena and Cultural Center.

Down three, 73-76, with just six seconds to go, Rain or Shine guard Rey Nambatac coolly hit a three-pointer to tie the game up at 76-all. Gabe Norwood then sent the game into overtime by tapping away Ginebra’s inbound pass right before the fourth quarter buzzer sounded.

In the extra session, it was Beau Belga’s turn to step up for the Elasto Painters as he sank a short jumper to give his team the lead for good, 80-78. The burly big man then swished a triple from straightaway to bring Rain or Shine’s lead to five, 83-78, 1:34 remaining.

Ginebra crept to within two, 80-83, after a basket by Stanley Pringle. But Rain or Shine forward Jewel Ponferrada shut the door on Ginebra by making a floater with just five seconds to go to seal Rain or Shine’s fourth win in five games.

Belga led the Elasto Painters with 20 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block.

The Kings lost for the second game in a row and fell to 4-2 (win-loss).
