BARUG PDP-Laban standard bearer and Cebu City Acting Mayor Michael Rama made it clear on Friday, October 8, 2021, during the last day of the filing of the certificate of candidacy (COC), that he will endorse Senator Christopher Lawrence "Bong" Go for vice president in the May 2022 local and national elections.

Rama also said he will endorse whoever President Rodrigo Duterte will annoint and will be endorsing for presidency.

"Ang bise presidente, as of this current time, is Bong Go. He is the vice president of Partido Barug," he said.

Sought for comment on the mayorship bid of incumbent City Councilor Dave Tumulak, City Councilor Raymond Alvin Garcia, who is the vice mayoral candidate of Rama's slate, said he did not expect of this decision of Tumulak.

"Unexpected. Although, kahibaw man ta nga last term na niya. So, it is his right kung unsay iyang daganan and we will respect that," he said.

Likewise, Rama said he respects Tumulak's decision saying it's the latter's rights to run for any elective position.

"We will be more challenged as a group that we have a mission to accomplish," he said.

Tumulak, who is running independently as city mayor, filed his COC on Thursday afternoon, October 7, 2021.

Meanwhile, Rama said he will prioritize the improvement of drainage systems in the City should he be elected as its next mayor. (WBS)
