Rama eyes no apprehension for those not wearing face masks

CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama will meet with the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) to discuss his marching orders on the wearing of face mask in relation to the

executive order issued by Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

Under Garcia’s EO 16, the wearing of masks would be required only in closed and/or air-conditioned spaces. Persons with Covid-19 symptoms would also be required to wear a mask at all times when they leave their homes.

Rama told reporters Tuesday, June 14, 2022, that he will instruct the CCPO not to apprehend those individuals who are not wearing face masks in open and well-

ventilated areas.

The public should rather be educated about the risk of not wearing face masks rather than arresting them, said Rama.

The mayor further said that the police should focus on other crimes instead. (IRT, TPT)
