CEBU City Mayor Michael Rama mulls the upgrading of the Mayor's Information and Liaison Office (Milo) for a productive and efficient delivery of services to residents.

Rama told reporters on Tuesday, June 14, 2022, that on his first day as elected mayor on July 1, Milo will be upgraded to City Hall Satellite Center (CHSC).

During the administration of former Mayor Tomas Osmeña in 2016, the barangay mayor’s office (BMO) was created as an extension of basic services from City Hall.

However, the BMOs in the city's 80 barangays were scrapped by the late Mayor Edgardo Labella in 2019.

Labella argued that the creation of the BMO was not provided under the Local Government Code. Labella then activated Milo which will serve as a bridge between the villages and the city.

Now that Rama will assume office on July 1, the newly elected mayor said that Milo needs to be "leveled up."

"Level-up to responsive, effective, efficient in the delivery of good governance and the greater good for the greater number," said Rama.

Rama clarified that he has no misunderstanding or grudge with Milo but as the new mayor, he would like to put his hand on the matter and make it part of his agenda in his first 100 days in office.

The mayor further said that he will make a report during his inauguration day on June 30, 2022 regarding the accomplishments of the "21 gun salute" projects he initiated to honor the death of former mayor Labella.
