Real people real beauty

Ever wonder why skin care is the most popular form of self-care? It is because aside from the fact that it can make you look good, the skin as the largest organ of one’s body is a reflection of overall wellness.

How? Let’s put it this way: When you are dehydrated, your skin will look dehydrated and dry too, and when you are stressed, you will most likely get skin breakouts or allergies.

Aside from that, taking care of your skin is kind of relaxing and will give you that much-needed sense of accomplishment.

Although there are DIY (do it yourself) ways of taking care of your skin, consulting a specialist or skin expert is still highly recommended to maintain skin health and appearance.

Homegrown brand Beauty Affair Face and Slimming Hub recently opened its second branch on the second floor of Primeway Plaza on F. Ramos St., amid the pandemic, to address Cebuanos’ skin concerns especially that some are experiencing maskne (acne or other skin irritation that results from wearing a mask).

With her philosophy, in-house dermatologist Dr. Marieta Santos, highly trained beauty therapists, state-of-the-art beauty and slimming machines and equipment and five years of experience in the industry, medical aesthetician and owner Therese Marie “Reese” Borromeo is confident to provide quality yet affordable skin and slimming treatments and services to Cebuanos.

“We’ve been in isolation for months, and that can take a toll on our mental health and cause skin problems, and even lead to obesity due to stress-eating. We’re here to help and be with you on your journey toward taking care of yourself,” said Reese.

During its opening, Beauty Affair Face and Slimming Hub also launched new services and treatments including Facial Skin Care Management Treatment, a safe and reliable high-tech and integrated beauty equipment for facial cleaning, skin renovation and face contouring; Premium Hifu (high intensity focused ultrasound), an alternative to full face lifting without going under the knife; Cryolipo-slim, non-surgical body contouring and fat reduction by freezing the fats; and Slimor Body Slimming and Tightening, a combination of ultrasonic fat burning and radio frequency that starts with a lymphatic massage to promote the decomposition of fat to help increase the body’s metabolic rate and accelerate the discharge of waste and moisture in the body.

Before every facial treatment, clients are required to take a facial analyzer test using Facial Analyzer to examine the skin before they are prescribed treatments and skin care products.

Being a health and fitness enthusiast herself, and bound by the guiding philosophy that “real beauty is real people,” Reese is very transparent to her clients. “In order to achieve your beauty and fitness goals, you should also live a healthy lifestyle like eating nourishing foods, getting enough sleep and doing exercise, and we’re here to assist and make your journey easier and more convenient,” she explains.

Beauty Affair Face and Slimming Hub’s newly opened branch has four spacious, relaxing and modern chic-designed treatment rooms and a consultation room. These are all sanitized in between appointments.

The beautifully designed and well-thought-out space that took inspiration from modernist architecture is not your typical beauty clinic setting. It has a dreamy pastel color scheme and great lighting to best highlight the result after each treatment (perfect for selfies!) and its skin care products formulated by its dermatologist.

To ensure a safe appointment, Beauty Affair Face and Slimming Hub strictly implements safety protocols including beauty therapists in complete PPE (personal protective equipment) at all times, submission of health declaration forms, use of disposable covers on all its beds and disinfection of the whole place and all equipment including the rest room every now and then.

Just like its first branch in Cebu City located on the second floor of Alcon Arcade, F. Cabahug St., the Beauty Affair Face and Slimming Hub Primeway Plaza branch is open Tuesdays to Sundays, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
