Cosmopolitan UK cover star Sofia Richie and Scott Disick split last week after three years together, with a source telling E! News at the time that "there wasn't a fight or anything bad that happened between them," but Sofia wants to "do her own thing" while Scott "take[s] care of his health."
And while neither Scott or Sofia have spoken out about the break up, a new report claims to know the ~real~ reason behind the pair going their separate ways - putting it down to her family never approving of the relationship.
Sources tells Us Weekly that the Richie's opinion of Scott "played a big role in their issues", adding that her sister Nicole "never fully supported" their romance, adding that "Nicole and Sofia have been spending more time together since Sofia started spending less time with Scott."
This comes as a source also told E! in December 2019 that Lionel has never been fully on board with his daughter Sofia, 21, dating Scott, 37. "Lionel has accepted their relationship but still isn’t entirely 100 percent on board with Scott mostly because of the age difference and how young Sofia is," they explained.
Lionel also made comments in 2018, throwing a bit of subtle shade at the relationship's age gap. He said at the time, “She’s 19. When you’re 19, you know everything. Is it going to be for life? I don’t know. But for right now it’s just a phase and I’m going to stand real still in the corner, get me a good drink, and not make too much noise.”
He added, “Now I know what my parents meant when I came through the door with my Afro and my girlfriend and said ‘Dad, I’m in love’ and [he] looked at me and said ‘Okay, we’re going to leave you alone for a minute and you’ll figure it out."
Whether Sofia's family had a say in the break up or not, let's just hope both she and Scott are doing OK, and have the support they need to move past this right now.
