Royal fans and style fans alike frequently follow the fashion footsteps of duchesses and princesses.
But now they can go one step further as a member of the Royal Family has put some of her clothes and accessories on a fashion rental site, with prices starting at just £4.
Lady Amelia Windsor, 25, who is 39th in line to the throne, has put some of her pieces onto By Rotation which allows people to borrow them for a few days or a week at a time.
The royal has decided all the money generated will go to the Henry Dickens Community centre in West London. The centre was part of the response to the Grenfell Tower fire and continue to run activities for children.
Items available to be borrowed from the royal include Giorgio Armani heels starting at £8, and Tommy Hilfiger trousers starting at £4.
Speaking about why she decided to join the rental platform, the model said: “I love the fact that you can share a piece of clothing with a community and have different adventures in it and it can give happiness to lots of people.”
She added of her decision to donate the funds to charity: “I discovered the incredible work the Henry Dickens Community centre does whilst watching the Grenfell tribute film during lockdown. They run activities for local children after school and in the holidays that provide a space to bring people together and support families.”
The charity choice might also please Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, who wrote the forward for a cookbook put together by people affected by the Grenfell tower fire in 2018, when she was a senior royal.
Lady Windsor, who goes by Mel on her Instagram account, is the granddaughter of the Duke of Kent, and a third cousin of Princes William and Harry.
She’s represented by Storm Model Agency and has also become an ambassador for No More Plastic. She has spoken about wanting to combine her passion for environmental issues with fashion.
She told the Telegraph in 2018: “We’re all aware of the huge plastic crisis and the effect it’s having on our planet.
“Fashion has a key role in that, but then also there are ways we can deal with it. Stella McCartney is someone to look up to in that sense, she makes the bigger point in her collection that you can be sustainable and stylish.”
Putting her wardrobe on the site, she also revealed she admired Rihanna’s fashion choices, and said she wanted to learn to darn her clothes properly in 2021.
