Reprimand drives man ‘on brink of despair’ to murder

DRIVEN to the brink of despair after he was evicted from his house right after his wife had left him, Jerry Sucayre Casio Jr. headed to the San Roque Parish in Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City, past 10 p.m. on Friday, October 28, 2022.

There, the 21-year-old resident lit a cigarette while he contemplated the unexpected turn of events when he was interrupted by the caretaker, Pelagio Abangan Marine.

The native of Nocnocan Island, Talibon town, Bohol told Sucayre to go home because it was late.

Casio reportedly got angry, but he ended up getting an earful from the 40-year-old Marine.

Casio left only to return around 2:30 a.m. After he found Marine fast asleep, he immediately bashed the caretaker’s head using the hammer he brought.

The heavy blows crushed Marine’s skull, killing him on the spot.

Someone noticed the commotion and called the police, who immediately responded.

When they arrived at the scene, Casio tried to hide. He then changed his mind and made a run for it with several police officers hot on his heels.

Casio was captured in no time.

Major Jonathan Bethooven Taneo, chief of the Mambaling Police Station, said they considered the case closed with Casio’s arrest.

During questioning, Casio confessed to the crime. He admitted that he wasn’t thinking straight and ended up taking out all of his anger on the hapless Marine.

He said he snapped when Marine reprimanded him earlier.

Casio is detained at the Mambaling Police Station. He will be charged with murder. (BBT)
