A RESOLUTION recognizing the legacy of the late Pablo “Pabling” Garcia will be proposed before the Cebu Provincial Board (PB).

Garcia, 95, died Wednesday, August 18, 2021. He served as governor of Cebu from 1995 to 2004. He was also a former PB member, vice governor and congressman.

He was the father of incumbent Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia and Cebu Third District Representative Pablo John Garcia.

In a phone interview, Board Member John Esmael Borgonia told reporters that all members of the legislative department, including Vice Governor Hilario "JunJun" Davide III, will co-author and co-sponsor the resolution.

He said they had their last encounter with the late congressman during the birthday of Governor Garcia in October 2020.

Borgonia described Pabling as a role model for being a “true public servant.”

He said Pabling had humble beginnings in politics, as he started as a councilor of Dumanjug town before he became the governor of Cebu. Pabling placed third in the 1951 Bar Examinations. (MVE)
