Restobar customer nabbed for punching cop in Argao

A DRIVER landed behind bars after he caused a commotion inside the Jactop Foody Hubb & Restobar in Sitio Looc, Barangay Poblacion in the southern town of Argao, Cebu, around 9:20 p.m. on Sunday, November 20, 2022.

The troublemaker was identified as 26-year-old Jonathan Quintero, a native of Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental but who is currently living in Barangay Canbanua, Argao.

Quintero will be charged with direct assault and resistance and disobedience to a person in authority after he punched Corporal Euwen Pitogo, who tried to pacify him and escort him home.

Staff Sergeant Jorge Tapales, investigator of the Argao Police Station, said the restobar’s management called the station to report Quintero who was going wild.

He said Quintero’s companions also wanted him arrested because he wouldn’t listen to them.

"Sige daw ni siyag panghambog nga Akhro siya, wala siyay gikahadlukan, nangitag away" Tapales said.

(He kept boasting that he was a member of the Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity, he wasn’t afraid of anyone and he was looking for a fight.)

Tapales said Quintero claimed that he had fraternity brothers who were assigned in the Argao Police Station.

When Corporal Pitogo arrived and introduced himself, Quintero suddenly punched him.

According to a witness who asked not to be named, the trouble started because Quintero wanted to sing and he couldn’t find a microphone. (GPL, PJB)
