ANOTHER church official from Cebu has been hospitalized due to suspected Covid-19 symptoms.

Retired Cebu Auxiliary Bishop Antonio Rañola was brought to the Perpetual Succour Hospital (PSH) in Cebu City on Friday, February 20, 2021, after experiencing fatigue and coughing.

This was confirmed by Monsignor Joseph Tan, the Cebu Archdiocese's official spokesperson.

Since Rañola was one of the close contacts of Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma, he was subjected to a swab test on Friday. The results of the swab test will be released on Saturday afternoon, February 20, Tan added.

The Archdiocese announced on Friday that Palma was found positive for the coronavirus. He was brought to the PSH on Thursday after suffering from fatigue and coughing.

Rañola, 88, is the most senior of Cebu's church officials and has served as Cebu's auxiliary bishop from 1990 to 2003. (JKV)
