Rhea Gullas wants Cebu 1st district divided into 2

REPRESENTATIVE Rhea Gullas of Cebu First District is planning to separate her district into two so it would be easier for her to deliver services for her constituents.

The newly elected representative also cited the growing population in the first district as the reason behind her move.

Rhea, wife of Talisay City Mayor Gerald Anthony "Samsam" Gullas, wanted the creation of a new district, which is Cebu 8th district, for the cities of Naga and Carcar and the towns of San Fernando and Sibonga, leaving only Talisay and Minglanilla under the first district.

Among the bills that she would file during the 19th Congress are the construction and improvement of roads from the mountain barangays to the national highway, granting of cityhood status to Minglanilla and San Fernando towns, improvement in the education system, and delivery of healthcare services.

Gullas clarified, though, that she would still cooperate with whoever will handle the eighth district once her bill would be approved in Congress.

Mayor Gullas, who also became a representative of Cebu first district, said he would support the move of his wife due to the first district’s growing population, which needs to be attended to. (BBT, TPT)
