The University of the Philippines’ ace combo guard Ricci Rivero has been getting offers from teams to play in Japan’s pro league, the B.League, as well as other leagues in Asia.
Rivero’s agent, Charlie Dy, revealed this to Spin.ph but emphasized that the basketball star and budding actor has yet to take any of the offers. Dy also shared that they almost signed with a second division team in the B.League had they were able to agree on the terms of a contract.
"I had to look out for the welfare of Ricci," said Dy.
Apart from Japan, Rivero has also gotten an offer to play in Chinese-Taipei. However, Dy said that any offer from any team has to be really juicy for Rivero uproot himself from the Philippines and leave behind his budding show business career and impressive cache of endorsement deals.
"Like I always tell the players that I represent, the contract has to be worth it before you agree, especially those Fil-Ams who have to leave their families," said Dy. "It's the same case with Ricci. The contract has to be worth it." (JNP)
