The office of the Vice President Leni Robredo has congratulated her successor Sara Duterte-Carpio on her proclamation as Robredo’s successor.

“Warmest congratulations on your proclamation as the 15th vice president of the Republic of the Philippines,” Robredo said in her letter to Duterte-Carpio dated Monday (May 30).

Robredo also said that her team is ready to start the transition process between their office and incoming Vice President-elect Sara Duterte.

“We respectfully acknowledge receipt of your letter dated 27 May 2022 requesting an initial meeting between our respective teams,” the letter read.

“Please be advised that we are ready to meet to answer any questions you may have regarding the Office of the Vice President and to take all necessary steps to ensure a smooth transition,” Robredo added.

The letter was in response to the request of Sara Duterte’s statement that they have communicated with Robredo’s office for transition.

Meanwhile, Duterte-Carpio’s spokesperson Mayor Christina Garcia Frasco clarified on Monday (May 30) that the incoming vice president did not request for a personal meeting with Robredo, but rather a meeting between their respective transition teams.

Frasco added that Duterte-Carpio requested that the meeting be held virtually through Zoom.

“It is the intention of vice president-elect Sara Duterte to undertake as smooth and orderly a transition as possible,” Frasco said.

Robredo’s term will end on June 30. The Vice President returned to Manila from the United States on May 28 and said that she’s “ready to work again.”

The outgoing vice-president had earlier announced in a thanksgiving gathering at the Ateneo de Manila University last May 13 that she would be launching the Angat Buhay NGO (non-government organization) on July 1. Angat Buhay is Robredo’s flagship anti-poverty program.
